London Conversation: Going out

The Aqua Shard (image: London Community)

Leila and Pavel are in Shake Shack having a chat about where to go this evening.

Leila: So, what do you fancy doing tonight?

Pavel: Hmm, I’m not sure really. It looks like it’s going to rain. I might stay in and watch McMafia on Amazon.

Leila: What?! You can do that any time. Why don’t we go to the Aqua Shard for a drink?

Pavel: Yeah, that’s not a bad idea, although it’s a bit pricey. I’m trying to save some dosh at the moment.

Leila: Well, we could always grab a pizza at Mercato Metropolitano.

Pavel: Yes, that’s a great place, but I can’t really be bothered to go all the way to Elephant and Castle tonight.

Leila: I went to Masala Zone last week. That was really cool.

Pavel: Is that the Indian restaurant with all the puppets hanging up?

Leila: Yeah, that’s the one. In Covent Garden.

Pavel: I wouldn’t mind going for a balti in Brick Lane.

Leila: Or we could have fish and chips.

Pavel: Fish and chips? That’s not very exotic, is it?

Leila: No, I know. But it’s really scrummy!

Pavel: That’s true.

Leila: So, what are we going to do?

Pavel: I don’t know. Why don’t we just go to the pub. I’d like to sink a pint of IPA right now.

Leila: The pub? Well, it’s not a bad idea.

(Leila’s phone pings)

Oh, hang on, I’ve got a message from Elisa. She’s having a dinner party with Gareth and Mehmet. And she’s making fettucine.

Pavel: Really? She’s a great cook!

Leila: I haven’t seen Mehmet for ages. He’s been working in Canada.

Pavel: What does he do now?

Leila: I think he’s a video games designer or something.

Pavel: That’s pretty cool.

Leila: So, what shall I tell Elisa? Do you want to go to her place for dinner?

Pavel: Yeah, why not? We can go to the pub first, anyway, and then pick up a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio at M&S on the way.

Leila: OK, sounds like a plan. I’ll text her and say we’re coming.

Pavel: Oh, by the way, I’ve got to top up my Oyster card. I’m a bit low.

Leila: You should get a weekly travelcard. It’s cheaper.
